Congressional Restructuring Act
On July 17, 2025, Congress passed the Congressional Restructuring Act, which implements major reforms. It expands the size of Congress to six Members, establishes the position of Speaker of Congress, and provides a way for citizens to draft a bill. The full text of the bill can be read here.
The Speaker of Congress must be elected by the Members of Congress. So far, no Speaker has been elected. Once a Speaker is elected, they will need to appoint four Members of Congress, subject to the approval of their fellow members. If this is not done within five days, the responsibility will be delegated to the President and the Supreme Court.
This act hopes to revitalize the relations between Congress and the people. One of the ways it does this is by allowing any citizen to draft a bill and have it submitted to Congress. However, the bill must be endorsed by one Member of Cabinet or at least ten citizens. With luck, more infrastructure will be built soon to allow this to happen.
Townsend Runs for President - Again?
In an interview with editor Auden Watts, the renowned Italian-Americonian politician Galileo Townsend announced that he plans to run for President in the 2025 Q4 election. His running mate will be West Floridian governor Emma Hoang.
One would be hard-pressed to find a candidate with more government experience than Townsend, who has served as a Member of Congress, the Governor of Charter Arts, the Secretary of State, and briefly as an appointed Vice President. Townsend has also attempted or at least announced a presidential run twice in the past.
As of now, he is "still figuring out [his] policies". He has stated he wishes to reform the Americonian group chats. "People spam the group chat too much," he says, referring to frequent messages, often from formerly Nico Party-affiliated individuals. "I would make a rule that people can't spam the group chat and a rule that people should take arguments into other group chats." While this is not technically a political position, the President is likely to have a high influence in this matter. He has not yet revealed his stance on major political and economic issues, but he has stated he will run under the Auden Party.
His running mate, Emma Hoang, is enthusiastic about the upcoming campaign. She said the duo should win the election "because we're amazing people". However, registration to run for office has yet to officially open, and other candidates will likely rise to challenge them. This election is anybody's game.
