Wait, is Duke Ethan Running for President?

On February 2, 2025, the self-proclaimed Duke Ethan of the VanBrakles announced his presidential campaign, with new citizen Adylin (Ady) as his vice presidential running mate. Both are citizens of the UFS Governate. They have also created a new political party known as the Hat Party. The Hat Party's current ideology is unclear, but they have distanced themselves from the former Nico Party, with leader Ethan saying "Nico party [sic] is not what we support". 

Can they run?

The short answer is no. The Constitution of the United Friends of America mandates that to become President, a citizen must have previously served in the UFA's government. Duke Ethan has not served in a position of the government, and he is therefore ineligible to run for President. However, the Constitution can be amended by a popular vote from Congress and UFA citizens. It has been proposed that the Constitution be amended to allow any citizen to run for President. The Hat Party is likely to campaign for such an amendment before the next election, which is set to take place in March.

What happens if they win?

Duke Ethan has made some highly questionable campaign promises, such as starting a civil war and bombing the US state of New Jersey, both of which are illegal under international law and far outside the UFA's capability. However, he has since apologized for his previous actions, saying "Im [sic] a changed person now and will start making up for my mistakes TODAY!"
